The Birmingham reggae legends experienced a number of sound issues while performing the likes of Cherry Oh Baby and Homely Girl It was Simon and Garfunkel who sang Sound of Silence but a power cut left revellers at South Tyneside Festival experiencing precisely that during what should have been a triumphant set from final headliners UB40. After praising 'hallelujah' for Alexandra Burke , not having to walk '500 miles' to see The Proclaimers and enjoying 80s 'gold' from Tony Hadley, South Shields music fans flocked to see the reggae legends bring the curtain down on the free weekend gigs, which have attracted total crowds of well over 100,000.
